All Bruner, All the Time*
27th Sep 2008
Hello. I’ve signed up to ride 66 miles next Sunday, Oct 5, to raise money for to help conquer Multiple Sclerosis, as part of the Bike MS New York City Traffic Free ride. I know two people affected by the disease and will bear them in mind while I’m panting away. I’m not really in shape for the ride, but it’s a good cause to rise to the challenge. Plus a chance to bike around the NY area car-free.
I need to raise more than $100 for the cause on short order. Would be very grateful if you’d make a donation for my ride here.
Thanks!

Come one, come all to Anna Akbari’s karaoke party this Wednesday night, details here and here. Same people who did Pants Optional Karaoke some months back. Much fun will be had by all.

Sean Harvey is a genius. Good buddy, colleague, buddy uke master, he performs a bluesy original here, “Crime Pays,” recorded in my apartment with my Flip camera earlier this evening. It’s hysterical. Please click through to its YouTube page and give it 5 stars, favorite, leave comments and tell all your friends!

OMG, this is so fantastic. I do a version of Lullaby on Birdland on uke, but I’m nowhere near as good as Mina. Her garbled English makes the performance that much more adorable.

My dad sent me a link to this fascinating corporate video from a company called Valcent that shows their system for growing algae in above-ground closed water systems to meet energy needs. Who knew?

How could I not have posted this earlier? A UkeTube classic.

The best new show of the last year, in my opinion, was certainly Mad Men, AMC’s Golden Globe-winning drama about ad agency execs set in 1960 New York City. I’m not going to get into a full review of it — I’m sure you can find plenty — but it’s awesome. This is just a reminder to catch up on the first season if you missed any or all of it (I see it’s available on iTunes and Amazon Unbox) and set your DVRs for 10pm July 27, AMC.
